Joanna Chadwick

Joanna is a graduate of the University of British Columbia where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree and her Bachelor of Laws degree. She was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1987 and the Ontario Bar in 1989.

She was awarded the Harcourts Advocacy Award for the student attaining the highest combined grades in Civil Procedure, Family Law, Criminal Procedure and Creditors' and Debtors' Rights at the 1988 Ontario Bar Admission Course.

Joanna was an associate and then a partner at a boutique civil litigation firm focusing mainly in the personal injuries field. In 2000 she became the Managing Lawyer of the Ontario litigation department of a major international insurer where she worked on property and casualty claims, primarily relating to motor vehicle tort and statutory accident benefits. In 2008 she joined Zuber & Company LLP.

In 2002 the Law Society of Upper Canada certified Joanna as a Specialist in Civil Litigation.

Joanna has appeared before all levels of the courts in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. She has had extensive experience appearing as counsel at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

Joanna's practice is focused in the personal injuries and insurance areas. She represents both defendants and plaintiffs. Her expertise is primarily in the areas of motor vehicle tort and statutory accident benefits (including loss transfer and priorities disputes), occupiers' liability, property claims, products liability, commercial liability, subrogation, disability claims and municipal liability.

Joanna has extensive experience in mediations and her practice includes conducting mediations. She has completed The Advocates' Society Mediation Course which was presented by faculty members of Harvard Law School.

Joanna has served as a member of several committees of The Advocates' Society. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, The Advocates' Society, the Toronto Lawyers Association and Canadian Defence Lawyers.
