Joanna's expertise is in all areas of general insurance liability, particularly the areas of motor vehicle tort, motor vehicle accident benefits (including loss transfer and priorities disputes), occupiers’ liability, slip and falls, insurance coverage disputes, products liability, commercial liability, commercial property claims, subrogation, disability and municipal liability.

Joanna has appeared before all levels of the courts in Ontario, the Supreme Court of Canada and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. In 2002 the Law Society of Upper Canada certified Joanna as a Specialist in Civil Litigation.

Joanna is a graduate of the University of British Columbia where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree and her Bachelor of Laws degree. She was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1987 and the Ontario Bar in 1989.

Since 1989 Joanna has concentrated on insurance defence work. She worked as an associate and then as a partner at a boutique insurance defence firm until 2000. During that time, Joanna acted on behalf of various Canadian and international insurers in property and casualty claims, primarily relating to motor vehicle tort and accident benefits.

In 2000 Joanna joined a major insurer as its Managing Lawyer in Ontario for its only Canadian office. As Managing Lawyer, Joanna established and led a litigation team of professionals focusing on auto and homeowner insurance litigation and arbitrations. Joanna joined Zuber & Company LLP in 2008.

Joanna has completed the Harvard Mediation Course.

She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, The Advocates' Society, the Toronto Lawyers' Association and the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association.
