John graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2001. John also has a background in History. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Toronto in 1993 and 1994. He also completed two years of a Ph.D. before attending law school. He was the co-winner of the Samuel Rubinoff Prize while at law school for achieving the highest grade in the first-year Legal Research and Writing class.

John has a diverse litigation background that includes experience in areas of personal injury claims, statutory accident benefits, property damage claims, commercial and contractual disputes, professional negligence claims, transportation and subrogated claims, insurance law, and insurance coverage issues. He has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
